About HTC U Play
The HTC U Play sports the company’s new “liquid metal” design, which looks absolutely stunning in person. The 5.2-inch full-HD display makes this phone a lot more manageable than the huge U Ultra when you hold it. There’s also Gorilla Glass for protection. The U Play features a capacitive home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You can expand this by up to 2TB using the second SIM slot. General performance is good but the budget-level SoC has a tough time keeping up with demanding games. The phone heats up a bit during video recording and gaming . The rear and front 16-megapixel cameras deliver great performance in most conditions. Finally, the 2500mAh battery manages to deliver a full day’s worth of life, despite the small capacity.
HTC was there at the beginning, producing some of the first Android handsets, the first Nexus handset, and launching the first handset that really added refinement to Google’s new mobile operating system. It’s a company that’s known for two things: design and its Sense user interface that is layered over the top of Android. The company hit it big, moving from OEM (i.e., making phones to order for other people) into a global mobile brand.
